HPV is the 'common cold' of being sexually active. This means that the virus doesn't care who we are, or who we choose to have sex with. Most of us will be sharing HPV with our fellow human beings.
Vaccination with the HPV vaccine prior to becoming sexually active gives us the best chance of preventing HPV infection. HPV vaccine is currently available free to males and females aged from 9 years up to the 27th birthday. People who are not eligible for the free vaccine can purchase a course of the vaccine from their health provider.
